Supporting Teams through Virtual Connection

The act of physical distancing (which we prefer to say instead of social distancing) is foreign to us but it doesn’t mean we become emotionally distant. Meaningful connections with other human beings is almost as necessary to human existence as breathing.

What we’ve developed for you:

  • Podcast Discussion Guide: Brene Brown, Permission to Feel
  • A HFA Dance video
  • HFA Jeopardy!
  • Bruce Perry led a discussion for PCAA/HFA staff and friends about Helping Children and Families Manage Stress and Build Resilience. Watch it here.
  • Make sure to check out the recordings of our weekly meetings, linked above.
  • Lots of great opportunities to participate in our CAP month events
    • Hello, free virtual yoga and more!

Virtual team meeting and connection strategies:

  • “Netflix Party!” Learn more
    • A great Netflix movie to watch together and discuss is “Babies”
  • HFA Pictionary

  • Corona-free Coffee (show off your fun coffee cups)
  • Virtual “Spirit week”
  • Have breakfast together virtually
  • Game hour at the end of the day or week (no work stuff!) – just relax and laugh together
  • Online Uno
  • Have a puzzle to solve:
    • What is the meaning of a weird phrase?
  • Have reflection time:
    • What are we learning?
    • What is the best connection we’ve had with others this week?
  • Have mini contests:
    • Who can build the best background behind them
    • Who has the coolest water cup
    • Who has the best costume
    • Who can spot the funniest thing in their neighborhood
    • Play games like virtual bingo: http://www.virtualbingo.org/
  • Sharing self-care ideas:
    • What is the one thing you’re doing each day to take care of yourself
    • What are you cooking/eating?
  • Bring the team into your lives:
    • Virtual tours of our coworkers homes
    • Let the kids and family members come on camera and say hello!

Remember the 3 G’s:

Grace: Offered to ourselves and others

Gratitude: Acknowledging small acts of kindness and important relationships – texting someone unexpectedly to express to them your gratitude for who they are is sure to bring a smile to their face, in addition to the positive feelings it creates for you)

Growth-mindset: In any situation, even the one we find ourselves in now, there is opportunity for growth.
