Christa Austin

HFA Principal Trainer

Christa Austin is a Principal Trainer with Healthy Families America. In this role, she provides foundational training and technical assistance and support to assigned region and Foundational trainers. She serves as a Peer Reviewer and has enjoyed it! Christa has 25 years of experience working in early childhood home visiting and center-based arena. Her varied career includes management and supervision of multi-site Early Head Start and Head Start home visiting and center-based services, family case management, substance abuse, program monitoring, and parent group development, Infant Mental Health, organizing and facilitating workshops and training. She received her bachelor’s in social work from the University of Illinois Springfield, Master’s in Public Administration from University of Illinois Springfield and Master’s in Social Work from University of Illinois Urbana with concentration in Mental Health. Christa is Licensed in the State of Illinois Master’s in Social Work and Infant Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation through the Illinois Association for Infant Mental Health.

Christa is happily married to a wonderful husband of 27 years, and they have six adult children and nine grandchildren. She is actively involved in her church, where she serves on the usher and new member’s ministry. She is a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta, Inc. and enjoys volunteering in her community. Last but definitely not least, Christa is an avid sports fan of college basketball and football and her favorite NFL team are the Pittsburg Steelers!
