Guiding Questions 1) CAPTA funds are administered through state grants (primarily awarded to state CPS systems) and discretionary grants such as research and demonstration projects and the Community-Based Family Resource and Support Program (CBFRS). Have you familiarized yourself with the aims of each and matched your program to the appropriate eligibility requirements? 2)CBFRS funds are unique because, unlike other federally funded programs, the focus is on primary prevention. CBFRS' are expected to provide a statewide umbrella for all primary prevention services. Do you have established relationships with prevention councils, other home visiting programs, mutual support programs, parent education programs, parent support programs and respite programs in your state? 3) Does your state have an established trust fund, lead entitiy, or other funding mechanism to pool Federal, state and private funds on behalf of a statewide network? 4) Does your program work closely with the local state child welfare office and are there plans to incorporate infrastructure changes or improvements focused on preventive services to those families identified as at-risk for abuse and neglect? 5) Does your program work comfortably within public-private partnerships and/or are you willing to put in effort to adjust work styles when multiple work partners are involved?
