Guiding Questions

1) Have you prepared yourself on logistics - time, place, position on the agenda - to avoid any surprised on the day of? Do you know your audience?

2) Have you prepared statements that:

  • Clearly identify your reason for speaking and identify one key issue or bill?
  • Include valid research and facts to back up your points?
  • Include a personal story about the effects of child abuse prevention?
3) Can you provide testimony that allows you to remain spontaneous, and make sufficient eye contact? Avoiding reading directly from the page has proven to create more impact and credence.
