Guiding Questions 1) Does your advocacy planning begin with a clear mission, prioritization of goals and evaluation of resources? 2) Is your advocacy planning closely aligned with your media/communications and fundraising planning? 3) Does your advocacy planning reflect national, state and local goals? Does it include working with coalitions for combined effect on broader levels? 4) Do your advocacy objectives emphasize the importance of year-round consistent messaging and constant relationship building with elected officials? 5) The best time to advocate is in advance of an issue coming up for votes/appropriations. Timing-wise, does your planning reflect time-intensive periods of advocacy PRIOR to the beginning of the legislative session or election period?
