Guiding Questions
1) Having elected officials visit your program can be extremely effective way for them view the effects of your program. Prior to their visit have you:
- Invited your official in writing?
- Prepared an agenda for 1-2 hour visit?
- Briefed staff, board members, families, meeting attendees on the visiting official, proper addressing of title and desired outcome(s) of the meeting?
2) Does your visit include:
- A tour of the facility?
- Time to meet with families, staff, volunteers, Board members?
- Concise information on number of people served, current funding levels, measurable outcomes, estimated cost of treatment vs. prevention?
- Discussion of current funding needed?
- Photo opportunities?
- Securing the support of the official or some form of next steps/follow-up?
